Years ago he was on the Mascalzone Latino jr team: he’s Australian Malcolm Page, one of the most famous sailors in his continent thanks to two Olympic golds in the 470 and a career always at the top level internationally.
An example of a top sportsman who, after winning countless trophies and titles in Olympic classes and famous one designs, put his experience first at the disposal of the international federation and today he is head of the Olympic programme of the American Federation.
At the end of the races in Capri last April, Achille Onorato, his helmsman and proprietor of the boat, decided to take him to dinner at the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School to allow a group of the most faithful and deserving students to spend a few hours with an “absolute champion” in their favourite sport, and seek instruction and benefits both in terms of motivation and technically.
Malcolm spent time with the kids that the various teams in a “lesson” they will remember for a long time, not only for the content but for the breadth of values that Page the champion and manager transmitted to them. Intense and pleasurable hours, that will remain in the memories of kids and instructors for a long time. To liven up the meeting, there was not only a beautiful gallery of photographs of his very thrilling career: Malcolm had also brought with him his original Olympic medals from Peking and London. Holding them, having a photograph and an autograph from the owner all at the same time is the kind of experience that sometimes triggers that spring of energy and willingness that keeps you committed for a long time to what you like best!
