A lot of water has passed under the bridge since a certain Claudio Napoletano, then still a boy, set foot for the first time in the Sailing School. Many years have passed and he has grown up, proving himself one of the kindest, most committed, willing and merit were the students of the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School.
Today we celebrated last a great step for our Claudio, by now a man who, after a process that was always coherent with his dreams and faithful to the Mascalzone Latino mission, has become a professional seaman. This morning, after obtaining his seafarer certificate and passing all the required examinations, Claudio has been “enrolled” and embarked on the Moby Ale ferry on the Piombino – Portoferraio line. He left home for this new adventure last Sunday, reaching Leghorn for the last examinations that would have started him on a new life stop Claudio grew up at the Sailing School and it really was his second home. Yesterday, somewhat overcome with emotion and still rather confused, he wondered what he would have done if he hadn’t attended the Sailing School. This is an imaginary fear, never spoken out loud, that accompanies these kids right from childhood.
Overcoming this fear by obtaining a job, which really is the thing that redefines a person is a worthy citizen and makes him free, is something thrilling.
Thank you, Vincenzo, for all this!
