On a pleasantly warm last winter weekend in Naples, the 420 crews of the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School were summoned to the first zone meeting to prepare for the national races in Cagliari next week, the second appointment in the 2016 calendar valid for the Italian title and qualifications for the European and world Championships.
Under the technical control of Lars Borgstrom, as Technical Zone Coordinator, and Alfredo Ricci, an international umpire taking a break from his commitments in the leading races round the world, the boys and girls of our 420 fleet had the chance of an experience equal to that of a very high level camp.
Thanks to the two exceptional coaches, the meeting made it possible to go into depth even on infrequent issues and, at the same time, to concentrate on essential topics such as the rules in starts and rounding the marks.
Two days of wind that were very interesting and of great technical and cultural value, with plenty of work done in the classroom and on the water thanks also to the video analysis of manoeuvres made during the days, making the most of the presence of the technicians.
