On today’s crew list of the Ship San Giorgio D562, the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School group numbered 120, including more than 100 very young students of the social project founded by Vincenzo Onorato.
It was a day of great satisfactions, and the kids, who were already learning to sail, came for the first time into contact with a prestige professional reality that was training ship of the Italian Navy: a famous destroyer with a famous past dating back to 1939 under the Italian Royal Navy.
The Armed Forces day in Naples, on November 4, will offer until Sunday, November 1 the chance to visit another glory, still engaged in operational missions: the “Garibaldi”.
In addition to the usual members of the racing team of the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School, also involved were the associations with which the Sailing School collaborates regularly, such as La Locomotiva, Associazione Quartieri Spagnoli and istituto Don Bosco. They were all very enthusiastic about the invitation from the Navy, and the kids were shown round the ship and all the landing craft it had on board, from amphibious tanks to helicopters.
For the warm and professional welcomed the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School thanks in particular Adml Donato Marzano, Captain Marcello De Bonis, Captain Gerardo Grisi and Adml Luciano Magnanelli.
