The three-day sailing event in the waters off Naples started with sun but little wind. For the second consecutive year it opened the Laser and 420 zone championship.
There were five entries in the event from the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School: Salvio Pistone, Lorenzo Angrisano and Francesca Falanga in the Lasers and the Agizza twins in the 420s. They all started well in the only race sailed on the first day, with very light and failing air: the twins won in the 420s, while in the Lasers Angrisano, Falanga and Pistone were respectively second, third and fourth.
On the second day which started at 9:30 AM, another victory for Andrea and Camilla Agizza with a full 300 m lead at the finish line. It went less well in the third race of the series: a penalty for touching a mark sent them back down the fleet but they remain second in the overall rankings. In the Lasers, Lorenzo “Lollo” Angrisano did well with the third in the first place. Falanga and Pistone suffered, dropping back a number of places.
After a third day that saw a long wait for a stable wind, the Christmas races ended with two podiums for the young athletes of the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School: the Agizza twins third in the 420s and Lorenzo Angrisano third in the Lasers.
