As the kids say, time is really flying here: we are now beyond the halfway mark of the young Mascalzones’ stay in Boston. Today began early with a visit to the waterfront, where they met Rosetta, an exquisite member of the PIB who teaches art and Italian in Boston, who acted as guide for the whole morning in the spectacular aquarium at the mouth of the Fort Point Channel, on the ocean.
It was a great spectacle for our kids who had never been to an aquarium. Here they saw hammerhead sharks, stroked rays and electric rays and got close up to turtles and sea lions.
At lunch the kids were guests of the Mast Pizzeria (sponsor of the event) where they felt for a moment at home, coddled by Marco and his pizza chef who were also from Naples, Secondigliano, a suburb next to Scampia. Another example for our kids of how potential, even in the kitchen, if based on commitment and quality can become excellence.
For the whole afternoon they were guests of Courageous Sailing. Here they raced on many offshore boats, which were completely new to them. It was a pity the air was very light and didn’t give the right dose of adrenaline to the young sailors.
At the end of the races, a barbecue gave them a chance to socialise with members of the club and to get to know the executive director of Courageus Sailing, Dave Di Lorenzo, who met Vincenzo Onorato six years ago and together with him and the PIB gave life to this unique adventure for the young Neapolitans of the Mascalzone Latino Sailing School.
Tomorrow the last races at the Community boating at 930. Then a free day to visit Boston again, the Mapparium, the Chinese quarter and Harvard.
